First State Surfing

For many surfers, the Naval Jetty at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, DE is one of the best locations to catch a wave.

I have been bodyboarding and surfing here since I was 10 and it does not get any better than this, unless you time a big swell on the north side of Indian River Inlet. The park is easily accessible, offers numerous tent sites, and has miles of shoreline to enjoy easy breaking waves. The quality surf occurs during the fall, winter and spring months, but every once in a while a summer wind or storm swell surfaces from the depths of the Atlantic and creates memorable drop ins and hollow tubes.
