Delaware Bike Laws

ped_safety_fnl1.jpgSummer is here!  That means heavy vehicle traffic on Route 1 and hot weather.  Traffic and weather can mean serious fatalities, especially for bikers (and walkers) who are not obeying the laws.  We all have seen that crazy SUV driver cut lanes or make sudden turns just because traffic is at a stand-still.  At CoastalSussex.com we want you to enjoy the summer so we decided to list a few bike laws that may allow you to breath easier and stay alive on the roads in and around Sussex.  First, no bike racing allowed.  Take your NASCAR fantasy to the State Park or friend’s farm in Harrington.  Second, no old BMX tricks like riding with no hands on the bike.  Not only is this stupid, but it is also ILLEGAL. Lastly, the Office of Highway Safety does not condone you jamming to the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears or any other music on Delaware roads.  Stay safe and obey these laws and others at http://ohs.delaware.gov.
