Hawaiian Food Dewey Style

by Dave on June 12, 2008

Tonight I ventured back to Nalu with a friend for a relaxing dinner. Craig, who used to manage the Summerhouse and now has taken over the duties as general manager at Nalu, greeted me when I sat down with a big Hawaiian hello.

Then, not thinking I would run into another famous Summerhouse employee, Big Bill surfaced to my right. A reunion of sorts transpired, as I have not seen either in a while. Anyway, back to the blog.

We first enjoyed a giant helping of crisp nachos with layers of cheese and more chicken than most local chicken cheesesteaks. Very good. For dinner I ordered the Kalbi steak med. rare which was excellent. Highly recommended for those who enjoy meat for dinner with a Korean twist. My friend ordered the Tuna, which looked rare and tasted perfect, according to him.

Overall, the atmosphere was authentic Hawaiian and the service top-notch, even though I would have liked to have seen a Hawaiian brew on the menu. Maybe the owners can import a few cases of beer from the Kona Brewing Company such as Longboard Lager. For additional information log onto www.nalusurfbar.com.
