Labor Day Weekend

Aloha from Dewey Beach, DE!  Yes, Dewey Beach has two Hawaiian eateries for your dining pleasure.  Nalu, a casual laid back pub, and Ponos, a fine dining tropical experience, are two of the newest joints at the beach this summer.  I have eaten at both and find Ponos more authentic, but also more expensive.  Also be sure to check out Que Pasa, a new Mexican open air restaurant on the beach next to the Lighthouse.  I have heard so many good reviews of the food and atmosphere that I am going this weekend to see what the vibe is all about.

On the north end of Coastal Sussex, Lewes is featuring a new restaurant called 1/2 Full, a fun, yet serious pizza restaurant offering wines by the glass and gourmet pies.  Your choices include goat cheese, avocado and pineapple to name a few.

Lewes is also the place where Quest Fitness and Kayak will be celebrating the Grand Opening of their rock wall.  The opening will be held on Saturday from 8-1 pm.  The Delaware Office of Highway Safety will be setting up a Bike Safety Course for kids 6-16.  Bring your bikes for the fun!

Rehoboth is always happening.  Labor Day draws the crowds, so I would eat early, if you don’t want to wait 40 mionutes for your meal.  Thrashers French Fries is a quality hole-in-the-wall place where the fries are piping hot and tasty!  Check out the Grand Stand for FREE local music.  Love Seed opened the season, so you never know who will be playing this weekend.

Fenwick and Bethany are the QUIET RESORTS (www.thequietresorts.com).  Not much happens there except all the good memories at the beach like peaceful nights listening to the August crickets, the smell of the ocean, kids chatting about the upcoming school year, and the Bethany Beach Funeral held to celebrate the end of the summer season!

So, my only suggestion this weekend is to relax, and make a point of stopping by Treasure Quest in Ocean View to hear Mr. Bill Winkler talk about Coastal Delaware treasures from a time long ago.

Enjoy, and stay away from the outlets as the shopping will be out of control!
