Best of the Beach — Breakfast Joints

by Dave on February 19, 2009

breakfastfoodSurf Bagel, Lewes: This bustling bagel bakery is a hit with locals, especially the students & teachers of Cape Henlopen High School. It’s not on the menu, but ask for “The Dave B,” an everything bagel with nova salmon, cream cheese with red onion.

Arena’s Cafe, Lewes: Great variety on the breakfast menu at this cozy spot inside the Villages at Five Points’ Town Center. Feast on “The Porker” (Egg, bacon, sausage, american and tater tots in a wrap.)

The Crystal, Rehoboth Beach: A favorite for years, lines can be seen outside the Crystal on Rehoboth Avenue most summer mornings. Can’t beat a name-your-own-omelet.

Royal Treat, Rehoboth Beach: Lines form every day at this traditional, summer-only eatery on Wilmington Avenue that doubles as an ice-cream joint in the evening.

Coastal Cafe, Rehoboth Beach: A favorite among lifeguards, surfers and the like. Grab a sausage, egg & cheese and some great coffee and you’re ready for the beach.

The Starboard, Dewey Beach: Legendary for their Sunday Morning Bloody Mary Bar, if you’re able after Saturday night, that is. Opening St. Patrick’s Day Weekend.

The Sunrise, Dewey Beach: Great Diner-style food for the morning after inside this summer favorite. Just a short walk to the beach from there.
