From the Historic Lewes Farmer’s Market:

Ed Kee, Secretary of Agriculture for the State of Delaware, has just sent out the following announcement:  “Two of Delaware’s 15 farmers’ markets have been ranked in the Top 20 in “America’s Favorite Farmers’ Market Contest” sponsored by the American Farmland Trust.  Congratulations to the Historic Lewes Farmers Market and the Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market for placing in the top 20 of all farmers markets in the national contest.

It is a great reflection on each market’s management team and staff, the growers and on Delaware Agriculture.  All of us at the Department of Agriculture are proud of their achievement.”

Lewes placed 4th in the medium-sized market category and Rehoboth placed 20th in that same category. Results of the contest were announced August 8th, which was the last day of National Farmers’ Market Week.

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market provides a family-friendly community gathering place for consumers to be able to purchase the freshest local foods available.
