Jim and Ronnie Kiernan Named Honorary Chairpersons for Annual Best of the Beach Art Auction

by Dave on May 24, 2010

Beebe Medical Foundation has named Jim and Ronnie Kiernan as the Honorary Chairpersons of the 21st Annual Best of the Beach Art Auction. The event will take place the evening of Saturday, June 12, in a huge tent on the grounds of the Beebe Health Campus on Route 24 in Rehoboth Beach.

Mr. and Mrs. Kiernan, local business owners, community leaders and philanthropists both have been strong supporters of Beebe Medical Center and of the health and welfare of the people in our community.

The Kiernans have been donors of Beebe Medical Center since 1996. There are two trauma rooms in Beebe Medical Center’s Emergency Department, acknowledging the Kiernans, their daughters and their families for the Kiernan support. Mr. Kiernan served on the fundraising committee for the Beebe Medical Foundation Vision 2005 Capital Campaign, which by 2006 had raised a Beebe record of $12.5 million that helped pay for the Outpatient Center on the Beebe Health Campus, the Central Utility Building and the Emergency Department expansion.

The Kiernan’s volunteer and philanthropic support is known throughout the local community. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kiernan have been actively involved in the Red Cross for 20 years, and have been honored at the statewide level. Mr. Kiernan earned the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 from the Sussex County Realtors Association, as well as the Maehall McCabe Award for outstanding contributions to the community in 2006 from the Rehoboth Beach Chamber of Commerce. Mr. and Mrs. Kiernan this past March served as the Honorary Chairpersons of the Lower Delaware Autism Foundation’s annual Autism Ball and Auction for Hope, an organization they have long supported. The Kiernan’s daughters and their families also have joined their parents in this commitment.

Jim and Ronnie arrived in Rehoboth Beach in 1982 and soon became involved in the local real estate industry. They continue to own the Coldwell Banker offices in the Rehoboth Beach area. With Mrs. Kiernan’s roots deep into Ireland, the couple founded Irish Eyes restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, and eventually expanded into Lewes and Milton. Mr. Kiernan describes their life as one blessed with luck, and says that he and Mrs. Kiernan want to share the blessing with others.

Proceeds from the 2010 Best of the Beach Art Auction will benefit Beebe School of Nursing. The funds raised at Best of the Beach also will benefit the programs of The Rehoboth Art League, which has worked with the Beebe Medical Foundation to organize the event since its inception.
