Rehoboth To Discuss Budget, Possible Tax Increases Friday

by Dave on September 14, 2010

The agenda for the monthly Mayor and Commissioners’ Meeting in Rehoboth Beach is set for Friday, September 17th, and included in the discussion will be “continued discussion on the potential for additional revenue” for the town, including possible increases in property and gross receipts taxes on residential property and the creation of gross receipts taxes for hotels, motels and commercial real estate rentals.

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce sent an advisory to its members concerning the meeting, saying “the business community has expressed concern that if there are required increases, the need for such increases should be stated and include earmarking. With all or most potential revenue sources being considered, the opportunity for the business community to state their opinion will be at this meeting.”

Also on the agenda is a Permit of Compliance request for Liew Thanibutra of TNK Corporation, “to operate a new restaurant to be known as “Lily Thai Cuisine”, to serve food and alcohol.”

The entire agenda can be read on this PDF file.
