Early Thursday Morning Lane Closure Needed on Route 1 For IR Bridge

by Dave on September 15, 2010

The Department of Transportation advises motorists that two steel beams used in the falsework structure for the new Indian River Inlet Bridge need to be moved from the northside of the work zone to the southside of the work zone. Tower cranes on each side of the bridge structure will move the beams onto a tractor trailer which will carry the beams along Route 1 southbound to the southside work zone.

This work will require an approximate 15-20 minute closure of both lanes of Route 1 southbound. The lane closure will occur on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 4:00 a.m. and will be lifted as soon as the beam is safely on the southside of the bridge.

Route 1 northbound will not be impacted by this work and will remain open at all times.

Information on the construction of the new Indian River Inlet Bridge can be found at www.irib.deldot.gov.
