Dagsboro Fire Kills 16,500 Chickens

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a poultry house fire that occurred on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 2:51 AM on the 29000 block of Piney Neck Road in Dagsboro, Delaware.

The Dagsboro Fire Department, assisted by the Frankford and Millville Fire Departments responded to the scene. Upon arrival they encountered fire showing from a collapsed structure. 16,500 4-day-old chickens were lost in the fire. Damages have been estimated at approximately $150,000.

State Fire Marshal Investigators are still investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
