League of Women Voters to host a Candidates’ Night

The Sussex County League of Women Voters Candidates’ Night will be held Wednesday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lewes Public Library on Kings Highway in Lewes.

Invited candidates include State Senator Joseph Booth of the 19th Senatorial District; Rep. Peter C. Schwartzkopf, Democrat and his opponent Christopher Weeks, Republican of the 14th Representative District; Russell C. McCabe, Democrat and his opponent Harvey R. Kenton, Republican of the 36th Representative District; Frank Shade, Democrat and his opponent Rep. Ruth Briggs-King, Republican of the 37th Representative District; Rep. Gerald W. Hocker, Republican of the 38th Representative District; Russ Melrath, Democrat and his opponent Councilman George Cole of District 4 of Sussex County Council; Sheriff Eric D. Swanson, Democrat and his opponent Christopher Jeffrey Scott, Republican for Sussex Sheriff; Gregory Fuller Sr., Democrat and his opponent Cynthia Green, Republican for Sussex Register of Wills and John Brady, Democrat and his opponent Scott M. Dailey, Republican for Recorder of Deeds.

The event will begin at 7:00 pm and end approximately at 9:30 pm. At least two candidates for a position must be present. The program will consist of a five minute opening, a ten minute Q & A and a two minute closing remarks period. Written questions from the audience will be screened by Sussex County League of Women Voters for duplication. Candidates who are unopposed or whose opponent is not present may address attendees in the back of the room at the close of the event. Candidates’ campaign literature will be available.
