Celebrity Chefs Beach Brunch Sunday

by Dave on October 1, 2010

Over twenty-five regional chefs will descend upon Dewey Beach to show off their culinary artistry on the first Sunday in October for the Seventh Annual Celebrity Chefs’ Beach Brunch. The event, which benefits Meals On Wheels Delaware, attracted over 600 attendees last year and raised $100,000. It is presented again this year by WSFS Bank and will be held Sunday, October 4, 11am to 2pm, at the Rusty Rudder.

A favorite among gourmet food lovers, the Celebrity Chefs’ Beach Brunch already boasts an impressive list of participating restaurants: Abstractions, Atlantic Seafood Company, Back Porch Café, Baywood Clubhouse Restaurant, Big Fish, Bluecoast, Blue Moon, Bluewater Grill, Café Azafran, Catch 54, Catchers, Celsius, Classic Catering, Cloud 9, Cool Springs, Eden, Espuma, Fins Fish House & Raw Bar, Fish On, Irish Eyes, Java Beach, JD Shuckers, Lupo di Mare Cucina Italiano, Nage-Rehoboth Beach/Washington, D.C., North East Seafood Kitchen, Que Pasa, The Pig + Fish Restaurant Company, Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Rocky Mt. Chocolate Factory, Venus on the Half Shell, Victoria’s Boardwalk Plaza Hotel.

Wine, cocktails and beer are included, like a margarita bar by Dos Locos, a bloody mary and orange crush bar by JD Shuckers, a tequila bar by Agave, mimosas, wine and mixed drinks from various distributors and beer from Delaware’s own Dogfish Head Brewery.

“This is a unique event with all these great chefs from the region coming together for an important cause” says Scott Swingle of WSFS Bank and Chairman of the event since its inception in 2003. “We’re really excited about the way the community has come together to support such a great event and cause.”

All proceeds benefit Meals On Wheels Delaware, whose five member agencies and their volunteers delivered over 620,000 meals to 4,300 homebound senior Delawareans last year. Meal recipients are over the age of 60 and physically unable to cook hot, nutritious meals for themselves. Funds raised go to ensure no eligible senior is on a waiting list to receive meals.

Included in the $95 Beach Brunch ticket price ($75 for parties of 6 or more) is endless sampling of the food prepared by each restaurant as well as cocktails and an abundant silent auction.
