by Michael Short on October 8, 2010

The annual Sussex County Today and Tomorrow Conference will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Del Tech.

The conference has been going on for nearly two decades and is seen as a snapshot of the state of affairs of Sussex County. Speakers and forums typically focus on the economy, growth, business and other facets of the day-to-day life of Sussex residents.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Getting Back to Basics”.

It is meant to explore some of the basic underlying industries that traditionally help to sustain Sussex County. This year’s Keynote Speaker will be Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Ed Kee.

Other speakers include: Sussex County Council President Vance Phillips, Del Tech’s Dr. Ileana Smith and Edward Simon of the Delaware Economic Development Offfice.

The conference includes an agriculture panel discussion and a trades and entrepreneur panel discussion. It is considered an opportunity to consider and discuss the future of Sussex County.

Immediately following this year’s conference, representatives from the following organizations will be available individual needs and to provide information to participants: Delaware Department of Economic Development, Del Tech’s Corporate and Community Programs, Service Core of Retired Executives, YWCA Delaware Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship, United States Department of Agriculture and Small Business Administration.
