“Brew Masters” Premieres November 21

by Phil Hagen on November 17, 2010

In case you haven’t heard, Sussex County’s own Craft Beer juggernaut, Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales, is the subject of an upcoming show on the Discovery Channel entitled “Brew Masters“.   It will air Sundays at 10pm, starting this coming week – November 21, 2010.  Read on for details as well as news on how being a local will pay an extra dividend this weekend.

The show will follow Sam Calagione in his quest to continue leading the Dogfish Head team in creating superb craft beers for an increasingly thirsty public.   Each episode will focus on the creation of a particular variety of beer, showing the hard work, dedication, and creativity needed to bring the product from a mere idea to the bottle and keg.

The first season includes seven episodes, which highlight Sam’s travel to Peru, New Zealand, Italy, Egypt, and more.   That hectic travel schedule is all in the pursuit of putting new and innovative beers into your glass.  The first episode centers around the Dogfish Head collaboration with Sony Records.   The result is the creation of “Bitches Brew”, which commemorates the 40th anniversary of the seminal Miles Davis album with the same name.

Plus, since we’re all fortunate enough to have the home field advantage for the show, we can do better than just watch it at home!  Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats in Rehoboth Beach will have great food and drink as always, but will also be showing it for the pub.  You can check out the meetup.com event page, and let everyone know you’ll be there.   Even if you prefer not to register on the meetup.com page, the pub will be packed, so get there early.  (If you’re reading this from outside the Sussex County, DE area, there are 58 locations worldwide having similar “Brew Masters” events.)

Congratulations to Sam and the entire Dogfish Head team on the show!  I will be at the pub on Sunday and hope to see you there as well.  Regardless, be sure set your DVR or alarm for 10pm Sunday so you don’t miss Sussex County in the spotlight.

Cheers!
