Falling In Love Away From Home

by Dave on February 13, 2009

A great piece in the New York Times about people who met and fell in love at their vacation home.

Romance at a vacation or weekend home often has the evanescent quality of shipboard flings. ‘S wonderful, ‘s marvelous the whole time you’re together at the beach or in the country. In the real workaday world back home, it’s often a different story: great fun, but just one of those things.

Still, there are plenty of couples who met where one or both had weekend places — and they’re still together many weekends, many summers, many Valentine’s Day celebrations later. Further, they give hope to all those people who believe that such relationships — built on things like coincidences and car trouble, happenstance and hunger, talkative seatmates and tennis — happen only in show tunes, chick lit and date movies.
