OPTION1From Capstone Homes:

Capstone Homes of Lewes has become the Cape area’s green builder for people on a budget. “I don’t know of any other builder who can deliver a complete 3BR, 2BA home on a lot in the Cape School District with a geothermal HVAC system for $189,900,” says Scott Dailey of Capstone Homes.

“We think it’s the right thing to do, and we are proud to offer a wide variety of green building options,” said Dailey. Capstone offers many energy saving options once only reserved for high-end homes. Capstone is currently offering a free geothermal system for all new home sales. Capstone has had a number of Cape area residents who have opted to purchase new homes with the system. Some studies show that a geothermal HVAC system can reduce monthly energy bills by as much as 70%.

“Capstone is proud to offer other ways to save energy on a new home- solar power and solar water heating. We have solar systems that can cost only $4,252 installed, after rebates,” said Dailey. Reducing energy costs is the best way to achieve a green home says Dailey, because a single family home will require a huge about of energy to run over the years. “Most people think that they can’t afford a new home with green features, but we’re trying to get our message out to the community,” says Jon Louden, Sales Manager of Capstone.

Dailey says that most people need to consider the total cost to own a home, and that most people don’t think about energy costs. “When you take our prices and add our green features, Capstone really offers a lot of value,” said Louden. Capstone is also committed to energy savings by installing energy star rated windows in all of its homes as a standard feature. Capstone also has tankless water heaters available.

Capstone, which is locally owned and operated, has energy saving options that larger builders don’t offer. “We build in four communities, and all of our homes start under $300,000. We truly think that we have something unique in our homes,” said Dailey. Dailey believes that energy saving green building will become more and more common. “People know it’s the right thing to do, but it is hard to include this technology in today’s market,” said Louden.

Capstone’s sales center is located on Route Nine just west of Lewes. All four communities in which Capstone builds are marketed from its sales center. For more information, visit
