Starboard Opening Weekend Info

by Dave on March 11, 2009

From Monty at the Starboard:

With just over a week to go on the big countdown….other than last week’s dumping of 10″ of snow as pictured, we are on schedule getting ready for next weekend’s big Opening Celebration of our 50th year in business here at the Starboard! Thursday March 19 – Sunday March 22nd we will wake the town of Dewey Beach back up from its long winter nap!

We open our doors next Thursday for another HUGE Opening Weekend Bash. Just like last year, we will have our parking lot covered by a huge tent, complete with full bars to help handle all the people that come to Dewey Beach to open up our World Famous Starboard!

Thursday Night: Doors open at 7pm, following a 2 hour private Happy Hour for our local Rehoboth Beach/Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce. JIMI SMOOTH and the HIT TIME will be entertaining on Thursday night, so for those of you with a few “sick days” left….Friday may be a good time to use one so you can get down for The Starboard’s first night!

Friday: We will open for Breakfast bright and early, serving those first orders of our fabulous Eggs Delmarva and homemade French toast. The NCAA games will be throughout the place, of course I couldn’t help but add just a few more High Definition Plasma’s over the winter! That night, our own DJ John Hardy, in his 27th year on the job behind the mic, will entertain as the masses pour into town. Just look for the big white search lights as you get close to town…

Saturday: Breakfast, Bloody Mary’s, & Bullsharks! Round two of the NCAA tourney will be the big talk at The Starboard all day. On the deck that afternoon, DOUG SEGREE will perform on stage from 3pm-7pm. That night, DJ Smoky will be in town to do his thing!

SUICIDE SUNDAY!! Need I say more? The day for all of you to stop in, replenish your fluids, fill your belly’s, and spend time rehashing the weekend with all of your Dewey Beach friends! In talking with the local hotels, they seem to have plenty of rooms already rented for Sunday night, which is rare here this time of year, so looks like many of you are staying over!

Here is an up to date status of our local hotels, rooms they have left available as of today, their rates, etc… You can get their contact information right off our web site’s Dewey Beach Hotel and House Rental Listings

I tried to forget them, but how in the world could I talk about Opening Weekend and not mention the sought after VIP Cards which so many of you travel so far to get. As usual, we promise everyone that attends Opening Weekend that they will be able to get a VIP Card for the 2009 season. We will have representatives on hand to give them out on Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday all day and night, then on Sunday afternoon. Each of our bartenders will also have cards for their best customers, if you do not see the promo girls set up with the cards, check with your regular bartender.

After that, we will make them available right here at The Starboard all Spring. All you need to do is make a road trip to the beach for one of our fun “Spring Training” weekends. Later in April, we will do some web offers for VIP cards, where you can register online for a card, that is only IF we have enough left at that point. We are undecided on doing the events in DC, Baltimore, Wilmington, etc…as we want to see how many people come for them here in Dewey next weekend first. So don’t bother with all the emails yet on how you couldn’t make it and need to get a VIP card, there will be time for that later in April, I promise!
