Restaurant Row – Arena’s Deli and Bar

by Dave on May 15, 2009

As seen in Coastal Sussex Weekly, April 30, 2009:

For 20 years, Arena’s Deli and Bar has been “Where the Locals Hang.” The popular Rehoboth eatery made a name for itself in the 1990s as a sandwich-and-a-beer by day, rockin’ beer hall by night locals’ favorite and has stayed true to that heritage as it heads into its third decade.

When you’re a beer-and-sandwich joint, featuring arguably the area’s largest beer list and the greatest sandwich variety is a plus. Arena’s has little competition in either category. You can order a heaping pile of cheese fries and a Hungry Kayaker (Turkey, roast beef, melted provolone cheese, tomato, sweet peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette served on a toasted torpedo roll) and wash it down with an Allegash or a Magic Hat.

When the sun goes down, Arena’s still turns up the music. The play host to some of the area’s best bands, including Jay Hoad, Carbon 14, Minos Conway, Lower Case Blues and more. And when you’re a locals’ haunt for twenty years, it isn’t surprising to occasionally see a Dave Matthews or Live drop in for an impromptu set.
When you reach your twenties, it isn’t uncommon to think about settling down and having a family. Arena’s is a long way from the settling down, but it has expanded its family to include two breakfast-and-lunch Arena’s Café restaurants – one on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach and one in Lewes’ Villages of Five Points. Both feature Arena’s famous sandwich menu along with coffee and a full breakfast.

Arena’s – Three Locations
Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth
Coastal Higway, Rehoboth
Villages at 5 Points, Lewes
