Restaurant Row – Big Fish Grill

As first appeared in Coastal Sussex Weekly, April 30, 2009:

A multiple winner of “biggest helpings at the beach,” Rehoboth’s Big Fish Grill has pleased seafood lovers of all ages for 12 years at its Coastal Highway location. Featuring a décor of mounted fish, light-wood booths and paper-covered tables, Big Fish knows how to get you in and get you fed – quickly.

The vast menu and nightly specials focus heavily of fresh fish and seafood specialties, including the Big Seafood of the Day (linguini served with shrimp, scallops clams and mussels served with a homemade lobster sauce) and arguably the beach’s finest crab cake (winner of our online poll).

One of the most kid-friendly restaurants in the beach area, Big Fish greets young patrons with a cup of crayons to color on the paper-covered tables. The dining areas are consistently loud as well, so no one notices when my five-year-old starts yelling excitedly.

For grown-ups, the Big Fish Grill wine list is chock full of Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs that pair perfectly with your rockfish or your tuna.
The service staff at Big Fish is renowned for their speed. You are guaranteed to see a variety of faces at your table delivering food as soon as it appears from the kitchen. With the demand for a table usually high (over two hours’ wait in the height of the summer), the restaurant’s success keys on its ability to exceed customers’ expectations and still turn tables quickly. Those two hour waits suggest that the Big Fish Grill does just that.
