Autumn Wind

“The summer wind came blowin’ in from across the sea…..all summer long we sang a song and then strolled the golden sand…”

And so before the summer goes:

Some of our outdoor venues are wrapping up their seasons.   Thank you:

•to the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand for another         glittering season (Final Show: DSU Approach            ing Storm Marching Band, Sunday ),

•to the Bethany Beach Bandstand (Final show:         FABMANIA Beatles Tribute, Saturday  7P), and

•to the Lewes Summer Concert Series (season             complete).

The Freeman Stage at Bayside season continues into October.

Among the summer’s highlights: The Rehoboth Art League held its 36th Annual Outdoor Show, Clear Space Production’s OLIVER! traveled up and down the coast and the Milton Theatre’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM brought Shakespeare to the local stage.

There are many ways to bring summer to a grand finale this Labor Day Weekend:

•Catch one of Christopher Peterson’s last per            formances in his final season in Rehoboth (say         it ain’t so Chris!),

•step off with the Bethany Jazz funeral on                 Monday, or

•indulge yourself in a “Big Night” of Italian                                 food and cinema with the Rehoboth Beach             Film Society.

“The autumn wind and the winter wind…..The crowds may thin…..”

Shhh…don’t tell anyone, but when the seasonal folks go home, there is still a full calendar of arts events and educational opportunities to look forward to:

•In its sophomore outing, RoseColored Glasses will
pres    ent EDGAR’S GHOST in conjunction with the local        libraries,

•Second Street Players will present Rodgers and Hammer-        stein’s CINDERELLA,

•Possum Point Player will stage AN INSPECTOR             CALLS

and there is a full slate of film, theater and concert events at the Milton Theatre.

It’s the inaugural season at the Cape Theater at Cape Henlopen High School.  Clear Space Productions will help christen the venue with THE DANCING DOG SHOGUN by The Budo Dance Theater direct from Osaka, Japan.

Bring out the artist in yourself.  Registration is continuing for fall instruction at Coastal Dance Academy.

The Southern Delaware Choral Society rehearsals and the Del Tech music instruction classes both begin September 8. SDALL and the Clear Space Arts Institute both begin classes on September 14.

The Mosaic Art Collective will continue its walking gallery tours on the second Saturday of each month and there are new exhibitions opening at Gallery 50 and the Philip Morton Gallery.

Sprinkle all of that with a cornucopia of festivals: The 20th Annual Jazz festival, the 20th Annual Sea Witch Halloween and Fiddler’s Festival and the 12th Annual Independent Film Festival.

Call us Humpty Dumpty………..It’s going to be a great fall.
