Lewes’ First Thursdays Continues on 11/5

The Lewes Chamber of Commerce’s Historic Commercial District Committee is sponsoring the third of their “First Thursdays – Celebrate Lewes Life” in the commercial district surrounding Second Street beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. There are partial closings of two streets in the district to allow for entertainment and activities in the street. A portion of Second Street from Bank to Market Street and Market Street from Front Street to Second Street will be closed from 6 – 8 p.m. Parking in the affected areas will be restricted beginning at 5 p.m. and will become available at 8 p.m.

First Thursdays features live entertainment, kids’ activities, extended store hours and family fun for everyone.

November’s musical entertainment features vocal performances by members of the Southern Delaware Academy of Lifelong Learning group called Elder Moments led by Roo Brown. They will be performing from 6 – 7 p.m. on Market Street in front of Café Azafran. Simultaneously, in front of Citizens Bank on Second Street, Clear Space Productions will be performing “An American Songbook” program with Ken Skrzesz and Doug Yetter.

Kids’ Cottage is sponsoring fun, fall activities for children and their parents at the Market Street Gazebo in Mary Vessels Park. The children will be doing Thanksgiving crafts that they will take home. Kody O’Bear from Bear Hugs for Babies will be on Market Street greeting the families participating in First Thursdays activities.

The merchants will be open with extended hours with many of the shops featuring unique offerings including Striper Bites featuring15% discounts when you wear your favorite hat and live entertainment while you dine.

First Thursdays in an initiative of the Lewes Chamber of Commerce’s Historic Lewes Business Committee chaired by Matt DiSabatino and takes place from 6 – 8 p.m. in the heart of the historic commercial district surrounding Second Street.
