Boat Drinks Bacchanal Sets Sail May 15th

The Delaware Seashore Parrot Head Club (DSPHC) has planned a Boat Drinks Bacchanal to benefit The Milton Theater and The Wellness Community (TWC), an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community.

The event will be held at Irish Eyes in Lewes on May 15, 2010 from noon to 7pm and will feature the tropical sounds of The Calypso Nuts and Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band. By definition, a bacchanal is a riotous celebration and a wild gathering. Organizers of this event promise no less. Tickets for the event are $45 and include a day of music, two tropical buffets and one drink ticket. The DSPHC is a member of Parrot Heads in Paradise, a national group of Jimmy Buffet fans who want to have fun while making a substantial difference in their communities and in the environment. The “Parrothead Nation” formed in 1992 and now boasts 237 chapters in the US, Canada and Australia. These “Angels in Tropical Shirts” recognize and fill the need for volunteerism in their community.

“The Parrotheads party with a purpose in order to leave our community a little better than how we found it. But, we sure like to have fun! We are great fans of Jimmy Buffet and the laid-back tropical lifestyle he personifies” said Michael Ohr, DSPHC president. “We are thrilled to be contributing to such worthwhile organizations in our community. The need for the vital cancer support services that The Wellness Community offers in Sussex County is great and The Milton Theater supplies our community with a unique blend of the arts.

The Wellness Community-Delaware is part of a national nonprofit organization that provides support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones. Through participation in professionally led support groups, educational workshops and mind/body classes, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and restore hope regardless of the stage of disease. The Milton Theatre is a Performing Arts Center, Cinema House and Community Showcase. The Theatre partners with community organizations, arts organizations and individual artists to showcase their performances and events. Since its rebirth in 2000, the historic Milton Theatre has made the arts more accessible. The Milton Theatre boasts its own community theatre troupe.. The Theatre looks forward to a year of artistic commitments, community festival participation, an expanded summer youth camp and an amateur film festival to promote the creation of film projects for all ages, BISS (Best in Summer Shorts).
