Beebe Hosting Free Breast Health Forum September 9

by Dave on August 24, 2010

Beebe Medical Center’s Tunnell Cancer Center will hold a free Breast Health Forum Thursday, September 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Israel United Methodist Church, 20254 Plantation Road (near Lowe’s), Lewes.

Free breast health education will be available on-site at the church. For those who qualify, no-cost mammograms will be performed in the mammography van, which will be parked next to the church. Pre-registration is required for all mammograms.

The event is being organized as part of Tunnell Cancer Center’s initiative SOS², Sharing Our Stories, Saving Our Sisters, which is funded by a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Philadelphia Affiliate. The goal of this outreach initiative is to provide breast health education to women in underserved populations throughout Sussex County and to encourage them to have mammograms. All women 18 and older should have a clinical breast exam and all women 40 years and older should have a yearly mammogram. Early detection saves lives.

For more information about the initiative, or to find out if you are eligible for the no-cost mammogram, or to pre-register for a mammogram, please call (302) 645-3169.
