Beebe Medical Center Nuclear Cardiology Granted Accreditation

by Dave on September 7, 2010

The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories has granted accreditation to Beebe Medical Center Nuclear Cardiology in the area of Myocardial Perfusion Imaging.

Myocardial perfusion imaging is a nuclear stress test that assesses the pumping function and the blood flow of the heart. Cardiologists are able to detect the presence of cardiovascular disease and may also discover important information regarding the occurrence of future heart attacks.

Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty that is used to diagnose and treat diseases. These diagnostic procedures help gain medical information that might otherwise not have been learned.

The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to provide quality patient care, in compliance with the ICANL Standards.

“I would like to congratulate the cardiologists and the Nuclear Cardiology nurses and certified nuclear medicine technologists for their dedication in the attainment of this accreditation,” says Lynn Amey, RN, Executive Director of the Cardiac and Vascular Services Program at Beebe Medical Center. “It reflects the commitment to quality that is found in our Nuclear Cardiology unit.”
