Beebe School of Nursing Alumni Association to Present Nursing Update 2010

Beebe School of Nursing Alumni Association is sponsoring the conference Nursing Update 2010 on Friday, October 29, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Cheer Community Center in Georgetown, Delaware.

The annual conference offers continuing education credits and is designed for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses working in hospitals, private practice, extended care facilities and educational institutions.

Topics and speakers include:

* “Look Before You Leap: Preconception Care,” presented by Melanie Chichester, BSN, RNC, of Labor & Delivery, Christiana Care Health System;
* “Current Topics in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery,” presented by Scott Schulze, MD, Beebe Physician Network surgeon in hand, burn, general and microsurgery;
* “New Tactics to Target Youth Smoking,” presented by Deborah P. Brown, CED, of the American Lung Association of the Mid Atlantic;
* “Disaster Preparedness: Ready or Not?” presented by Cheryl Littlefield, RN, Emergency Management Coordinator at Beebe Medical Center;
* “Lessons Learned from Children who have had a Near Death Experience” presented by Melvin Morse, MD, of Spiritual Scientific: Academia Without Walls.

The cost of registration, which includes materials and lunch, is: $90 per person: $50 per person for Beebe Medical Center employees, retirees or Beebe School of Nursing Alumni; and $40 for full-time students at the Beebe School of Nursing.
