Gallery 50 trip to the Barnes Foundation

by Dave on September 16, 2010

In 2009 Gallery 50, in Rehoboth Beach, in association with Graphics By The Sea, in Lewes, launched “Coastal Art Connection” which sponsors regular trips to view art exhibitions in such regional art centers as Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City. The concept is to provide both an interactive experience along with transportation at a reasonable rate to those interested individuals who live in the Rehoboth Beach area.

On Thursday, October 28, 2010 a trip has been scheduled to visit the Barnes Foundation, in Merion PA. The Foundation possesses more than 2500 objects, including 800 paintings estimated to be worth more than $6 billion dollars. Among its collection are 181 paintings by Renoir, 69 by Cezanne, and 59 by Matisse, as well as numerous other masters.

The Foundation will be moving from its current location to Philadelphia in 2012. Viewing this collection in its original setting is truly an extraordinary experience that one will never forget.

The bus will leave from Gallery 50, in Rehoboth Beach at 8:30am and return by 6:00pm that evening. The cost of the trip is 75.00 dollars, which includes a light breakfast at the gallery, total transportation costs, as well as the cost of admission to the Barnes.
For more information, as well as registration forms, visit the gallery website at, or call the gallery at 302.227.2050. The gallery is closed on Tuesdays.

This trip sold out quickly last year, so early registration is encouraged.
