Congratulations to Wilmington’s Iron Hill Brewery on their two GOLD medals at the 2010 Great American Beer Festival!

The Great American Beer Festival is a annual gathering of brewers, distributors and beer enthusiasts.  This year marked the 29th annual event, where 450 breweries and 50,000 fans descended on Denver, CO to celebrate their favorite fermented beverage.  Each year, a formal beer competition is also held.  Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to the top submissions from a dizzying field of 3500 beers in 79 different categories.  This is no small task for the judges!!

Standing tall among the honorees was Wilmington’s own Iron Hill Brewery, who took home two gold medals.  Their Pig Iron Porter took the top spot in the Robust Porter category, and the Russian Imperial Stout was the number one Imperial Stout.  Check out all of Iron Hill’s beers and food at their Wilmington or Newark brewpubs in Delaware, or any of the five sites in Pennsylvania or one in New Jersey.
