UNICO is a nationwide, non-profit service organization of Italian-Americans and friends, founded in 1922, to perform good works and promote fellowship in the name of Italian-Americans everywhere. Translated from Italian, UNICO means “the only one of its kind.”

The Rehoboth Beach chapter, which is called “Vicino al Mare” – translated as “by the sea,” was founded in 2007. Its mission is to contribute to the well-being of its local communities by performing good works, promoting fellowship, and contributing to deserving local and national charities; to foster, encourage and promote Italian heritage and culture; and to support the mission of UNICO National.
